- Take a self-guided historic tour of the town.
- Visit the topographically spectacular Walhalla Cricket Ground.

- Take a swim in the Thomson River (Summer months only!) In the cooler months it is nice to sit by the river and skim rocks.
- Go fishing in some of the nearby rivers and creeks.
- Some of the best 4×4 tracks in the country are in the local area. (Know your limits!)
- Pan for gold in Stringer’s Creek. (Gold pans can be hired from the Walhalla Museum.)
- During winter visit the snowfields. Mt St.Gwinear is only 45 minutes away and offers great snow play. Mt Baw Baw is about 75 minutes away.
